Some companies mainly communicate through their blog. Much like a journal, ours is simply a place for us to collect our thoughts on business and marketing and share them with you (and hopefully give you an indication of how we think). As our clients come first you probably won’t see a new entry here every day, but we hope you come back and join the conversation – or you can sign-up for our RSS feed if it suits you more.

We're Recruiting | Client Marketing Executive | Topsham, Exeter

BY JAMES ROBERTS

Ground-breaking cross-media campaigns. Brand launches into national retail outlets. Research for blue-chips. Strategy for established businesses. Lead generation for new ones. These are just some of the projects we’ve delivered over the last 12 months and the sort of thing our new Client Marketing Executive will be getting their hands on (it's no ordinary marketing job in Devon).

The Details

Job Title | Client Marketing Executive
Location | Topsham, Exeter, Devon
Salary | £20,000 - £25,000 pa DOE
Hours | Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm

The Company

Wall To Wall Sunshine offers marketing strategy and delivery for large corporates, SMEs, Charities and Public Sector clients throughout the UK. We're a different type of marketing company and are pioneering a new (and well overdue) model – we’re all true marketers, rather than, for example, PR, web or research people. You can read more about our new marketing model and what it means for our clients here.

We treat each other like adults and have thrown politics out the window as they get in the way of great results. And because we’re always striving to deliver marketing excellence, we’re not a place for average people looking to do average work. The team comes before individuals as everything comes back to us all – but we need resourceful people with a proven ability to stand on their own two feet. We love what we do and believe that work should be fun with serious intent. Our clients, who are at the centre of everything we do, include Exeter City Council, Luscombe Drinks, Thomson Reuters and Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust.

The Work

Varied is one way of describing it - it’s proper marketing so you’ll be involved with business strategy from day one rather than working in the same sector on the same brand doing the same campaigns again and again. Energetic is another - we’re growing so we're busy and need someone who enjoys working at pace and can juggle competing deadlines. And we’re pushing what our clients can achieve because we believe in delivering the very best we can. If you want to develop and become a better, broad-based marketer, this is the place to come and do it.

The Person

You’ll need to have worked as an in-house marketer – agency experience will be an advantage but in-house is vital to have empathy with our clients. If your friends were to describe you they’d say you were positive, passionate and confident but never arrogant. Clients and colleagues would say you’re forward-thinking, creative, driven and have great professional integrity. Your approach to work is commercially astute, business like and grounded. You have bags of initiative and know when and how it should be used.

Here’s a checklist of what we’re looking for:

Experience

  • In-house marketing experience – essential
  • Marketing beyond promotion – essential
  • Strong customer focus – essential
  • Supplier/partner management / handling – essential
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously – essential
  • Client facing – desirable
  • Research and planning – desirable
  • Digital and social media (either directly or managing projects) – desirable
  • PR (either directly or managing projects) – desirable
  • Document / proposal writing - desirable

Education / training

  • CIM – desirable / willingness to study
  • Degree – desirable, especially if it’s Marketing / Business focused, if no degree at least five GCSEs at C or above inc. Maths and English

Skills

  • Attention to detail – essential
  • Modern PC skills – essential
  • Good with numbers, data and analysis – desirable
  • Report writing – desirable
  • Communicating concepts – desirable
